KMF team leaves Phnom Penh to look for latrines in Svay RiengSunday 23 January 2011
The Cambodian branch of the USAID-funded organisation DAI (Development Alternatives Inc) selected KMF after competitive bidding to devise, write and produce a short documentary showcasing the MSME project (Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises).|
Making A Difference will feature how MSME has catalyzed Khmer entrepreneurs into supplying latrines to Cambodian’s rural population, 65% of whom defecate in the open, a huge health risk for children and adults like.
The key point is that the enterprises are ‘sustainable’; no public funds are used to acquire the latrines. The entrepreneurs have been trained to persuade their customers to buy the equipment themselves, having made them aware of the great benefit to their lives.
